WILLISTON, N.D. - The 2022 Babe Ruth World Series for 14-year-olds will return to Williston in northwest North Dakota in 2022, it was announced by the baseball league’s international headquarters staff in Hamilton, N.J.
Williston will be able to select its own team for the event because it’s the host and will compete with eight regional champions from across the country, plus the North Dakota Babe Ruth state champion for 14-year-olds.
“Williston has the small town charm that keeps visitors coming back,” said Lorry Grondahl, host president for the event.
The city has served as past hosts for several other Babe Ruth World Series events, starting in 2003 with the World Series for 13-year-olds to 15-year-olds.
Other World Series in Williston were the 1980 tourney 14-year-olds to 15-year-olds, the 2013 tourney for 13-year-olds and the 2016 tourney for 13-year-olds to 15-year-olds.
“What kids and their families love best about the Babe Ruth League program are the friendships they build in their communities and beyond. Williston is one of the friendliest communities in our program and their love of the game is exceptionally strong,” said Robert Faherty, vice president for the international Babe Ruth League Inc.
